Dinner at Chinatown’s in Banawe

Our family had dinner-out last Sunday.  The desire to eat out was prompted by the salmon sashimi daughter prepared the night before.  The dish was so tasty that our palate was tickled to crave for more Japanese cuisine.   We thought of having lunch in Saisaki the following day.  But hubby wasn’t available for lunch.  (As usual, he’s out again on his biking escapade)  So, there’s no other choice but dinner.  And the plan to go to Saisaki was replaced by Chinatown’s Best Food in Banawe, Quezon City.  I heard it offers good food for an "eat all you can" style which includes Japanese food too. Despite the distance of Banawe  (the street  and not the rice terraces) from our place in Novaliches and regardless of hubby  grumbling while driving,  the big kiddos and I still chose to eat in Chinatown’s.

Chinatown’s Best Food is the name of the restaurant.  It is housed in a 3 floor building of which the ground floor is for A la carte, the second is for ‘Eat all you can’ and the third floor is for Banquets or special functions.  It was almost 8pm when we got to the place hence, we were not surprised to have found the place almost full and the numerous serving platters almost empty.  Good thing, all the serving platters were immediately refilled.  Lot's of dishes to choose from although I was a bit disappointed I didn't find my favourite peking duck which I was told was included in the buffet.

Obviously, we had a good fill.  Came payment time.  The cost of buffet?  P548./head.  Don't ask me if I find it reasonable.  I can only compare it to other restos of its caliber that offer Eat all you can.  It's no match to Dad's-Saisaki-Kamayan. The latter is still the best for me.

What A Coincidence!

I'm not in the mood to write as yet.  But due to a  blogger friend's nudge,  I thought of just sharing this funny email I found in my inbox.  Hope you like it!

cid:1.3764211129@web96115.mail.aue.yahoo.comA chicken farmer went to a local bar.... Sat next
to a woman and ordered a glass of champagne..
The woman perks up and says, 'How about that? I just ordered a glass of champagne, too!'

'What a coincidence' the farmer says. 'This is a special day for me.... I am celebrating'

'This is a special day for me too, I am also
celebrating!' says the woman.

'What a coincidence!' says the farmer! As they clinked glasses the man asked, 'What are you celebrating?'

'My husband and I have been trying to have a child and today my gynecologist told me that I am pregnant!'

'What a coincidence,' says the man. 'I'm a chicken farmer and for years all of my hens were infertile, but today they are all laying fertilized eggs.'

'That's great!' says the woman. 'How did your
chickens become fertile?'

'I used a different cock,' he replied.

The woman smiled and said, 'What a coincidence.'

Smile!  Enjoy the beautiful day!

Funny

I was FB hopping when this post from my niece’s account made me endlessly laugh out loud like crazy. Just can’t help but share it here.  Looks like it is an advertising signage posted publicly for passers by to see for or by Aling Saming Hilot. (An herbolario or more appropriately, a quack doctor.)  My apology to all the visitors who don’t understand the Filipino language.  I hope I can translate it but I really doubt if I can.  Many of the words used are difficult for me to convert.  Likewise, translated words may not be as funny. Thus, I opted to leave it that way.

So what do you think, my Pinoy blogger buddies? Kailangan nyo bang magpatawas? P120. lang! Pero yung may dasal P130! Kasi may kasaling itlog, kaya espesyal! May gusto ba kayong kausaping kaluluwa? It's only for P150. for 3minutes. Wag lalampas ha? Mahal?  Ganun talaga kasi hindi pa fully developed yung mga cell sites sa kabilang buhay.  Mahirap kumontak!  Free advertisement ito for Aling Saming.  Basta lang,  no credet! hehe.. And mind you, kung yung appliances nyo, lifetime service warranty, ito, full haus serbis and warantea! Say nyo!

Smile! Have a wonderful new week ahead everyone!

Thank you, Kim Castañeda Aguilar for the photo.

A Weekend in Manager’s Place Beach Resort

Feeling the early heat of summer, my family once again trooped to my sis’ place in Balanga, Bataan last weekend.  Thereafter proceeded to Manager’s Place Resort In Morong, Bataan.  Sis found the said resort in the internet as usual.   She warns us that she hasn’t personally seen the place so she’s uncertain what the resort really looks like.  The two big kiddos and I went ahead of sis and Mae,( her daughter) with the hope that hubby already reached the resort as he had biked his way to Morong  hours ahead of us.  But in just few kilometres to the beach, we passed by the biking hubby on the road and saw him get smaller as we left him behind us.

The owner of the beach resort, Mrs. Paz Abella warmly welcomed us as we arrived at the resort’s gate.   While ushering us inside, she was humbly apologizing for the small area that they have.  Yes, the place maybe small compared to the other resorts in the vicinity but it is obviously well taken cared of.  The surrounding is clean, with beautiful blossoming plants in every nook and crannies. They have different cottages to suit your needs.  Their native roomsi with aircon can each accommodate four. We were six so we got two rooms.  And without us asking, we were given further discounts by Mrs Abella.  Her husband, the former Branch Manager of Land Bank Balanga (where the resort’s name came from) is equally accommodating.  Always on the lookout for anything that we would possibly need, from table to chairs to offering the transfer of heavy griller for our convenience.  Geez, where can you find such friendly customer treatment with personal touch?  We just found it here!  Or could it be because Mr and Mrs Abella discovered they have mutual friends with my sis?  Maybe so, but apart from that, I believe they are truly friendly and  hands on on  their  customer relation.

Besides the owner’s hospitality, what I like here is the clean beach. Unlike the other beaches we've visited,  this one is free from trash and rocks.  Overall, the Manager’s Place is worth coming back.  And I'm already aching to be back soon.  We had a worthwhile weekend!  I once again  took pleasure in my most loved place, the beach

I love my La Germania

The cooking range in my kitchen has been servicing my family for more than 25 straight years. It has two gas burners, one electric burner and a gas oven with rotisseri.  I stopped using the oven after seeing a hole on one of the gas tubes. I don’t want to take the risk of starting a big fire so I set aside my baking hobby.  As for the stoves, all three are still usable although they aren’t as efficient lately. The flames aren't as fiery and the automatic ignitions don’t work anymore. Nonetheless, every single stove is still functional but not until one refuses to shut off completely. For the very first time, I called the service center and in no time, two service technicians arrived.  They are very skilled that the stoves were restored to its brand new condition in a very short time.  While the oven, I was told can still be restored too, if I want.  They don’t have the replacement parts with them at the time so they came back a couple of days later and then...  voila!  My dilapidated cooking range is working fresh anew for an unbelievable amount of only P2,500.!  Imagine that?   Who would think that a 25 year old cooking range would still be given a second chance of life.  Lol!  Oh, ain’t she like me?  Blessed with second life? Haha..  I love you, my La Germania!

Whoops! This is not a paid advertisement buddies!  I don’t get any single centavo for this positive review. It’s just that I’m overwhelmed by the good quality and service of La Germania. Their one click ignition is truly impressive. Chances are, you won't find it in other brands. I definitely won’t choose any other brand to replace my so loved cooking range, if ever.  La Germania has been proven and tested by me.  To the people of  La Germania,  I won’t refuse if you would send me a brand new one for free.  Lol!  I love.. love..  love.. my La Germania!
