Reality Check for a Stubborn Heavy Beer Drinker
It's been a long while since I last updated this blog. Now, I'm having a difficult time how and where to start. But before anything else, I want to thank those who dropped by and left comments while I was away.
Now, perhaps you're wondering what makes me "MIA" for the past weeks. The reason was that DH was hospitalized and I had only little access to the internet. Well, I went facebooking via my mobile phone but couldn't blog. Anyway, I'm glad that DH is home now, doing quite well although still recuperating from liver infection. It has been a very long hospital stay-cation for us since his experience of endless on and off fever and going to the wrong hospital first. He was confined for 5 days and spent 30k (thanks to health insurance) before realizing that he isn't getting any better. He had to transfer to another hospital, (NKTI) went thru various lab tests and diagnostic procedures until they found the culprit: Abscess in his liver. He was bombarded with lots of oral and IV anti biotics for a week until he finally recovered. Although not yet completely, as he has to continue his medication here at home. He is sked for ultra sound tomorrow to see if the infection has totally disappeared.
Hoping and praying that his liver has fully recovered. DH is a stubborn big beer drinker. I hope he knows, this is a reality check for him.
See you around again everyone! Have a lovely day!

yeheyy! glad to know that the hubs is now finally out of the hospital. tapos na ang 'bakasyon'. I hope that this will really be a wake up call for him. lubayan na ang beer na yan hahaha.
miss you Tita B. take care.
big hug,
J
He's on diet kaya need ko ipagluto ng right food. And he has to see his doctor again tomorrow after our whole day today in the dignostic center of the hosp. Kaya ayun, almost wala pa ring time mag-laptop perhaps hanggang di pa sya back to work. :(
Hayyyzz..
Miss you too J! Thanks for everything! Tight hug!
Good to know he's okay. Kaya pala nawala ka ng mejo matagal. My brother was a heavey beer drinker, too. And that cost his life, the docs said. I hope your hubby learned his lesson early, Ate Beng. It's a serious matter.
Take care, too!
Uh oh...so that's why you're nowhere to be found.
Kakagulat na it took that long to finally get the correct diagnosis. Di ba standard to check lahat ng organs, atay kasama, pag di mawala wala ang lagnat? Oh well...I'm just glad na he's on recovery na. Ay naku...ang alak talaga walang magandang maidudulot yan....ke beer pa sya or any other alcohol, di ba? Minsan talaga kailangan ng wake up call....
Cherish the time together [yee haw!] kahit medyo di maganda yung dahilan. Sabi nga...make the most out of it....char!
Get well soon Kuya T! Goodluck Ate Beng...hahaha...
Huling [PS..thanks for the condolence]
naku. i don't drink beer and hard drinks and yet i found out that i have a cirrhosis of the liver. the culprit? eating too much fatty and rich food. so i guess aside from beer the DH is also refraining from such kind of food?
hope he gets well soon.
btw, during my long confinements, my wife cheered me up by bringing the laptop and my usb sun broadband prepaid to keeo her and me entertained. its 100 pesos for 3 days. not a bad deal, eh?
Oh my! Beth, sad to hear about your brother's demise due to heavy drinking. I've seen and heard a lot of cases similar to your brother's. And that's what I fear most. His doctors already warned him against drinking. Hopefully he listens.
Have a great weekend Beth! Ingat!
Huling, ikaw talaga.. palagi mo ako gusto ipa-pulis!! Aha haha!
Actually, medyo nakapagtaray talaga ako dun sa first hospital.(To nurses and his lone doctor). I asked them kung hanggang dun lang ba ang alam nila sa medical practice nila? Sabi ko I pity those who come to this hospital. So stupid talaga! Sigh!
Kaya hayun, lipat agad sa suki kong hospital. hehe.. Thank God, gumaling naman sya.
Now Huling, kahit pagod ako sa kakarequest nya ng iluluto ko, happy pa rin ako only because he's always with us 24hrs a day which doesn't usually happen. Trulala! enjoying the most out of it! :))
Thanks so much Huling! You guys, always make my day! Missed you!
Noel, sorry to hear that you also have a liver problem. Didn't know na ganun pala ang pwedeng maging effect ng too much fatty food intake. Peking duck.. steak.. chicken skin chicharon.. Oh no!
Bow!
Pagaling ka na Noel! Tiis na lang sa masasarap for the sake of your 2 beautiful girls! Regards and ingat din!
My mom's brother died of CA of the liver due to drinking.. I hope he's out of danger and try to forgo drinking. Thank you for taking time also Tita Beng to visit my blog. I always enjoy reading your posts especially your travels kasi ang detailed and the I drool on your food posts too.
Hi Ida! Sorry to hear about your uncle who died of liver cancer. Such eventualities are what worries me a lot about his drinking. Hopefully, he has realized the great risks of holding on to his beer drinking.
Always glad to see you drop by Ida! Hope your having a great weekend!
Hi Beng Gee! I am glad to hear he is OK now and I hope he takes care of his health and feels better soon.xx
Hello Yonca! Hubby is fast recovering. Hopefully, he would follow well his doctor's advices.
Have a nice day and take care!
Hi Beng Gee,
Sorry to hear your hubby was in the hospital, but glad to hear he's getting better. Hope he's feeling much better and will continue to heal. In addition to nixing the beer (which I hope he'll realize he needs to do), make sure he is also very careful with Tylenol (acetaminophen) in terms of liver toxicity. Avoid it if he can, instead using something like ibuprofen for whatever pains him (ibuprofen is not toxic to the liver, but do have to take it with food or milk as it can cause some stomach problems).
All the best to you and your family, tell your hubby to hang in there!
Hi Buzz L! Fortunately, hubby here is doing much better now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's gonna shun beer forever.
Oh, that Tylenol info.. didn't know that! Will now veer to ibuprofen instead. Yeah, won't forget to take it with food in stomach. Haha.. another lesson learned. Thanks much!
Always glad to see you drop by! Thanks you for the valuable words of encouragement!
See you around, Buzz L! Regards to your two lovelies!
