Gold Investment

“What are the good things you can invest in, nowadays?”
For sure, this question has been asked one too many times especially now that the world economy seems to be at low ebb. For those who really have the means, and eyes on a big catch, gold never fails the standards of a first-rate investment. Unlike realty, gold’s significance is unwavering at any part of this world.

Since gold could be of any shape or appearance, people usually buy gold through jewelry and other body accessories, basically, to utilize their investments. But for gold collectors, they also consider buying gold coin and bullion though they can’t really wear them and show off to the public. It could be simply because the prices of gold bullion and coin do not only reflect on its quality but also to its history.

For me, investing on something is better than just keeping your money in a safety box. If you want to buy gold bullion and coin as one of your assets, then better start now, and purchase from trusted companies. You know, you’ll never go wrong with gold.

Chinese Noodles To Love

It wasn’t Friday yesterday but my two buddies, Ely and Lyn and I agreed to go to Makati City and unwind. No car is available but that didn’t stop our itchy feet from getting to our destination, the Pacific Star Building in Gil Puyat Ave. We went to see the newly opened Hongkong Noodle House stall located in the mezzanine of the Times Square of the said building. I’m a true blue Chinese food lover that’s why I am very interested to visit and see for myself what this Noodle House stall offers. Incidentally, this Hongkong Noodle House Franchisee is a newly launched business venture of Ely’s son, Zion with his fiancée, Sharon. We were there to personally see how this couple are doing and at the same time try and taste the foodstuffs they offer. Btw, hubby’s office is right there on the said building which made him rushed to where we were in no time at all. And Ely’s husband appeared on the said place too. I enjoyed much the Beef Teriyaki Fried Noodles and Beef Siomai I have chosen. They taste like the authentic Chinese food from Hongkong. Incredibly very filling! They are cooked and prepared right in the stall and served hot by well uniformed and hygienic service crews. I could say that their Beef Teriyaki noodle is a noodle like no other, so saucy and great tasting served on a very eco-friendly container and matching chop sticks. And that’s not all. The best part of it’is its cost. I haven’t seen yet a similar product at a very low price of 30pesos, with their other products even priced much less. I won't get tired patronizing this terrific noodle house. Likewise, hubby is very glad that it is located in their building. He could save much for his meal without letting go of a good quality food.

To Zion and Sharon, I’m sending you our warm wishes for abundant blessings on your new endeavor. You are admirable young couple who knew exactly what a future married couple needs in building a successful family! God bless to the future Mr and Mrs!

Chill Out After a Hard Days Work

Taking time out from my endless household chores, I sat on a sofa, stretched out my legs and picked up the remote commander of our TV. I kept changing channels looking for my favorite program. But then, I got bored. Local channels have limited shows which made me wish I have one like Satellite Directv. I’ve heard of the Direct TV having lots of TV programs to choose from. And if on a limited budget, one can choose which channel is more important to have.

If only I could have one as that of a Direct TV Satellite, it would make my daily chores light and easy. And why not? I’d probably be motivated to work fast, finish my daily tasks, then chill out in front of a Satellite Directv. I guess that’s one factor of the joys of life, to chill out after a hard days work!

Experiencing Pahiyas Festival

-->

Hubby and I took a spontaneous Friday day off last week. We had an impromptu decision to drive to Lucban, Quezon to see the popular Pahiyas Festival celebration. Lucban is a four to five hour drive South of Manila. Knowing the trip would entail a lot of walking under the heat of the sun we chose not to invite anyone else to come with us. Hence, a full day of sight seeing and strolling without worrying for anyone else getting tired and hungry along the course of the tour. And at this point, hubby and I enjoyed the stroll despite the hunger that we had encountered. All the restaurants and eateries we went to were full with tourist customers. So we had to roam around yet until after lunch time only to find a small table for us in one of the unpopular eateries in the place. All we had for our lunch was a plate of Pancit Lukban, a very easy and quick to serve noodle in that very busy area. It is one delectable dish that has been sought in this town aside from the very popular Longganisa Lukban( a local sausage)

Pahiyas Festival is one of the most colorful celebrations popular in the Philippines. It is celebrated every 15th of May and has become a tourist attraction among the local and foreign tourists alike. It is a thanksgiving celebration for the Patron Saint of Farmers, San Isidro Labrador for abundant harvests they had for the year. Houses here in Lucban are being decorated with colorful “kipings”. This “kiping” is leaf-shaped wafers made of rice dyed in brilliant colors arranged and hung in front walls of the houses for décor. Others, I noticed used other decorative items such as fruits, freshly harvested rice stalks, whole banana plants with fruits in it, fresh flowers and many other colorful indigenous materials. The festivity was so lively even before the parade has yet to begin. We were not able to wait for the parade to move coz it was like a lifetime to assemble and organize a long line of giddy participants. We left the festivity on its peak, delighted and gratified by the complied curiosity.

Choose The Right Webhost For You

I couldn’t believe I’m into blogging for more than a year now. I never thought I’d learn this sort of techy thing for I was an absolute computer illiterate. Ouch! I hate using the last word but I should admit it. I knew nothing on computers let alone on blogging. I endlessly thank hubby for being a very patient computer and blogging instructor for me. Although I know there are yet a lot to learn in this field, I have long embarked on creating my second blog. Oh yeah, like you, I too, wonder where I got the nerve. (Lol!)

After keeping these blogs in a free webhost and getting some difficulties once in a while, I am now planning to have my own webhosting. I’m looking for a reliable and hassle free server that would give fewer to zero impediments for my site.

There are actually varieties of options to choose for the right web hosting. One can weigh the pros and cons accordingly. You may want to view who the awarded webhost servers are for added help. Thankfully, webhostingrating.com is there to guide one blogger like me. So glad to know that choosing the precise webhosting for me is now like a walk in the park.

TGIF Night With Friends

Yup! I finally had the chance to go out with my friends on a relaxing Friday night. We went to a nearby “gimik” place and we had dinner. There was a live band and few stand-up comedians but we preferred to stay far from the deafening sounds of the band and the over-excited voices of the comedians. We focused on each other since it was quite a while since our last get-together. It was a fun night, as we always had. We’ve enjoyed every minute of our "chizmax" that we didn’t notice the time. Went home past midnight promising each other to have another TGIF dinner soon. ‘Twas a great night for three moms casting boredoms away!

New Hairdo

I was experiencing a very low self esteem lately. Getting so conscious of the advanced age shown on my face. The insecurity grew even stronger when we passed by my big sister’s place last weekend and saw her so young looking who could even pass as my younger sis. Argh! I couldn’t accept the thought of it so I quickly headed to the nearest hairdresser the following day and sought some magical transformations. Ha ha ha!! I know I’m kinda silly not to accept the reality… that the passing of time is catching up on me! And so the hairstylist ran his fingers thru my hair and assured me I'm gonna love my new look. And here it is!. . . .

Taa daaa!!!

Hey, don’t be scared! This is not a zombie from the grave! Ha ha ha!

What can you say? Should I commend my hairstylist or should I kill him? I really don’t know if this new do is becoming. It feels much lighter though. I hope you’d tell me honestly!

Before I forget, I want to greet all the loving mothers HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!

Climbing Up Mt. Samat

Saturday, May 2 was a free day for us. My family,( together with my M-i-l and S-i-l) trekked the three hour and a half trip to Mount Samat and view the Bataan Peninsula and Manila Bay from atop the huge cross. We reached the foot of the mountain at around 9:00am and saw a lot of hikers climbing up the road. I wonder if these youngsters knew what they’re doing coz I understand, it’s more or less ten kilometers from the foot of the mountain that ascends to the top where the cross is standing. Anyway, we strolled at the park, enjoying the view and took the elevator inside the huge cross until we reached the lounge area which is actually the horizontal arm of the cross. The view from atop is exhilarating whilst feeling the strong gust of the wind. I've been enjoying the stroll that I forgot to go to the museum that displays war memorabilia. M-i-l enjoyed the place once again. This is a scenic place to bring the children to have fun and learn history as well.

Here's a brief info on Phil. History
Mount Samat is a mountain in the Town of Pilar, Province of Bataan, Republic of the Philippines that is the site of the Dambana ng Kagitingan or "Shrine of Valor". Along with the island fortress of Corregidor, Mount Samat was the site of the most vicious battle against the Japanese Imperial Army in 1942 during the Battle of Bataan. Suffering heavy losses against the Japanese, Filipino and American soldiers retreated to Bataan Peninsula to regroup for a last valiant but futile stand. This retreat to Bataan is part of a United States strategy known as War Plan Orange. After fierce battle lasting 3 days, 78,000 exhausted, sick and starving men under Major General Edward P. King surrendered to the Japanese on April 9, 1942. It was, and still is, the single largest surrender of U.S. and Philippine Forces ever. These forces were then led on the Bataan Death March.

The mountain is now a war memorial. A huge white cross stands as a mute but eloquent reminder of the men who died there. It also acts as a tourist attraction with a war museum nearby that has a wide array of displays from paintings of the Philippine heroes to armaments used by the American, Filipino and Japanese forces during the heat of the battle. Pacquiao Made Pinoys Proud Again

Manny Pacquiao, of the Philippines, right, throws a right to the head of British

This is to Congratulate Manny Pacquiao for grabbing the Welterweight Champion Title from Ricky Hatton. He made the Pinoy’s proud once again. I guess he has proven that he deserve the title of “Pound for Pound Boxer”. Furthermore, it’s not surprising if he’s being included in the list of “Greatest boxers of all time”. This bout with Ricky Hatton was just a walk in the park for Pacman. Though he said he didn’t expect that it would that easy to defeat Hatton. In any case, having so may titles in his name, the latest of which is the Welterwight Title, I can see that Pacman would reign in the boxing world for yet a longer time. Mabuhay si Pacquiao, Mabuhay ang Pinoy!

Shrimp- Meat Balls in Sweet and Sour Sauce

I’m tired of cooking same dishes over and over again. I love experimenting but the problem is our ref is usually not complete with the ingredients I need. So, I end up making use of what is available. I intentionally avoid going to the grocery these past days to avoid unnecessary spending, thus the incomplete stock of grocery stuff.

I am glad, I still was able to come up with a simple but appetizing dish. And here is the outcome of that experiment.

Ingredients:
  • Big sized shrimps
  • 1/4 kl ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • flour
  • cornstarch
  • salt
  • sugar
  • soy sauce
  • vinegar
  • 1/2 head garlic- chopped
  • 1 big white onion- chopped
  • 1 carrot- julienne cut
  • freshly ground black pepper
Procedure :

Remove shrimp's shells leaving the tail attached. Cut the shrimp at the back, making it look like butterfly. Put a little salt and ground pepper. Set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, garlic, onion, black pepper, salt, soy sauce, egg, flour, corn starch. Blend well. Coat with the mixture one shrimp at a time. Deep fry. When golden brown, set aside on a paper towel laden plate to absorb remaining oil. Prepare sweet and sour sauce.

For Sweet and Sour Sauce:
In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 cup water, vinegar, salt, sugar, catsup, ground pepper and cornstarch. In a sauce pan, saute garlic and onion and pour the mixture. Bring to a boil then drop the carrots. Pour over arranged shrimp-meatballs on a platter. Serve hot.

Note: Use the ingredients according to your taste. No exact measurement done.
