Maybe a habit

Days before the New Year’s Eve Celebration, I’ve made a declaration that I would not cook  our “Media Noche” that time. I thought I was tired of doing it over and over again.  The family willingly agreed with my plan. They even suggested that we just have pizzas, pasta and chicken be delivered from a pizza chain store.  However, as I passed by the wet market the day before, I found myself picking up those food stuff required for cooking my usual Media Noche fare again!  These people around me were like..  shrugging their shoulders and telling me, “it has now been a habit for you that you hardly would ever beat”.  Well, I think so too.  Not that I always prepare special dishes!  I only feel that I need to be busy in the kitchen to feel the atmosphere of the holiday’s gaiety!   Weird, but that’s me!

Here are some of the simple dishes that took my time:

Roast Beef

Roast Chicken

Lengua Estofado

Rellenong Bangus

Macaroni Salad
I didn't make desserts anymore as they've been made available by friends who sent Ube Jam and Leche flan. Thanks to daughter's friend and mine!

Wow buti ka pa nakapaghanda, Kami kasi just dined out with some close friends in the city and waited for the countdown fireworks. Anyways those lengua look so delicious and the relenong bangus, too sad those are a bit hard to prepare here as offals such as lengua is not sold on supermarkets and bangus is always frozen (walang fresh)

My peborit was on your table - rellenong bangus! I wish I know how to make it. Malamang I'll be making it every week....hehe.

@E's talent in drawing...definitely not from me....si M? He can draw pero he doesn't do it so hindi developed. I have 2 brothers din na marunong...again hindi naman kina career so parang untapped talent. Hmmm...malamang yung akin din untapped? hehehe....

How's 2011 so far?

@chubskulit: How about trying the Lengua Estofado one time? That is if Ox tongue is available in your place. I've heard it's not commonly sold in the U.S.eh!
Spending Christmas in your FIL's place looks enjoyable! Libre ka pa sa pagka-busy sa kusina. Lol!

Enjoy the brand new week Rose!

@Yonca: Just realized, that mothers like me who's a SAHM(Stay At Home Mom), cooking for the family everyday of the year are as normal as eating 3 times a day!
It gets embedded in the system somehow! I think it is same with you. Right Yonca?

Have a great new week ahead!

@angsarap: Evidently, you had a more exciting and more relaxed New Years celebration Raymund! It's nice to be with friends while enjoying the wonderful fireworks. I'm sure you had a great time!

Never mind if you can't cook rellenong bangus there. All your dishes naman is always "patok"!

Good day to you and ingat!

@PinayWAHM: Favorite din ni Tom 'yang Rellenong Bangus eh kaya I always include it every time! I wonder if available ang bangus dyan sa inyo..

Musta naman dyan sa magandang State ng Florida? Malamig pa rin ba? or baka umuulan naman?

I hope you have a sunshiny day today and all through out the week! Take care always!

Ate Beng! Natumbok mo....umuulan na naman dito today with some kulogs & kidlats! Ayayay...

Bangus....I haven't been in a 'wet' market here so no idea if they have it there but the Phil store has it....frozen nga lang. I bought a frozen one na hindi pa linis....never again kasi di ako marunong maglinis ng isda talaga. I gag everytime kasi di ako sinanay ng Nanay ko eh. So no go ako sa rellenong bangus. Hanggang picture na lang ako. I *think* they sell the 'frozen' relleno din ata but I don't want to try it kasi baka ma- disappoint lang ako.

Have a good week din sa inyo dyan...
