Holy Mass at Baclaran Church for a Friend

"Prayer is not an old woman's idle amusement. Properly understood and applied, it is the most potent instrument of action."  -  Mahatma Gandhi

Like Mahatma Gandhi and all others who have a strong faith in God, I pray.   I believe God listens, so I pray like I have a best friend beside me listening to all my grumbles and praises.   I say a prayer wherever and whenever I feel like it.   Often times, when I pray for something or for someone with certain seriousness, I offer and hear mass.    Just like what I did yesterday.  Since it’s Wednesday, I opted to hear mass in National Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, or what is known as the Baclaran Church. This time, I offered and lifted to HIM, thru the intercession of the Mother of Perpetual Help a FRIEND who’s about to undergo a major medical procedure.   As I forever believe that God always listens, my faith tells me that everything will turn out well for this GOOD FRIEND of mine.   For dear friend, just keep the faith coz God is eternally good!

what a coincidence. i just posted another church, which is just beside the building where i work at the moment.

it's the national shrine of st. jude thaddeus, the patron saint of the hopeless. although its just walking distance from work. i rarely visit the church. probably only once or twice during the last 3 years.

i now pray the novena to st. jude. though not inside the church but in our office. i don't think that, with my condition right now, i can stand the heat and the huge number of people during novenas.

You too! Have a blessed day, tita Beng.
God is good! Thanks for the heart warming comment on my blog. I didn't know you had the big C before. You are a survivor and one strong one, at that! God is good! Love to you.

@Batangala: Nice to know that your office is very near St Jude Church. Is that the one in San Miguel, Manila? I used to go there too, in my youthful years as I was a "Batang Quiapo/Sampaloc" Lol!

Yeah, I believe in St Jude as well! Nothing really is impossible nor hopeless if we'll only have the faith!

There's another St Jude post in another blogger friends blog> the blackswampcornucopia.blogspot.com
Looks like most if not all are seeking/giving thanks to God's omnipotence!

As I always say, Just keep the faith! Pray! It works!

@Pearl: Indeed, God is good all the time! I believe HE listens and answers our prayers according to his plan.

Will include you in my prayers, Pearl!

@Tom: Yeah! Prayers can move mountains, that's why I keep praying on so that I would someday see Mount Banahaw in Quezon City! Weh hehe.. .. peace!

Ditto to what Kuya T said that prayers can move mountains! I'm with you in praying [in my own special way]. Nothing can beat the powers of prayers!

On a lighter note, I bet that if you pray [and dream?] hard enough, I'll be seeing you here soon enough? Hehehe...

TGIF na ulit bukas! Weeehhh....

I went through a similar condition your friend has to go through too before and it's really comforting to know someone's out there praying for your safety as well other than yourself calling all the saints to help you get through it.

@Admin: Nice to know you experienced the same. Likewise, many friends prayed for me when I was in the same situation. I felt the sincerity in them that made me feel it helped a lot in my recovery. That's the reason why I do the same for this friend of mine now.

Thanks for dropping by Nance! Ingat!

Very nice post, Beng Gee, and a very beautiful church indeed. I think there are truly special and miraculous places, particularly the shrines (although I also believe in the power of prayer anywhere, anytime). I haven't been to the Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help yet but would like to go there. My wife's friend got a statue there which is the same image as the icon (Our Mother of Perpetual Help with baby Jesus) in the Shrine. This woman had ovarian cancer and was given a very unfavorable prognosis, but now 11 years later she is fine and has been cancer-free for years after having the statue and much prayer. I grew up not too far from two shrines in northwest Ohio in the US (Sorrowful Mother Shrine and Our Lady of Consolation Shrine) both of which have had many ascribed healings and miracles over the years. Thank you for your reference to my St. Jude post, by the way!

All the best to you and your family!

Oops, I forgot to add that I pray for all the best and a successful outcome for your friend's procedure.

@Buzz Lightyear: I remember being brought to this church since I was a little child by my mother. I was already sickly since childhood, thus I've grown accustomed visiting this Shrine of Perpetual Help especially if there's heartfelt spiritual intentions being offered.

Glad to hear about that healing from ovarian cancer of your wife's friend thru the miraculous image of Mother of Perpetual Help. What the power of faith and prayer can do!

I'm sure my Friend will be grateful to you as well!

Thank you for your precious time! Hope you're having a great week, Buzz L!
