Thoracentesis and 8 Long Days of Hospital-cation for Me

Difficulty in breathing seemed to be just natural thing for me.   It was always that way every time I feel tired, or even when I just had a good laugh.  I would only puff on my anti- asthma inhaler, then voila!  I would and could easily breathe again.  However, I couldn’t get that kind of relief lately.  No matter how much I puffed, not enough air could reach my lungs. I felt like drowning.  Yet, I had to continue doing my regular household chores.  Just have no choice.  Until I woke up the morning of May 27, urgently needing help for support such as oxygen, to ease my difficulty in breathing.   I asked to be brought to the ER again. Was led to go through various diagnostic procedures like x-ray, ultrasound, CT scan that eventually explains my predicament.  It  revealed  my lungs were filled with 2 liters of fluid.  I underwent Thoracentesis the following day and aspirated 1.5 liters. It was a great relief. How wonderful to take in air deep into my lungs again! But the fluid in my right lung easily came back after a couple of days and doctors had to aspirate again.  Fortunately, the Iv anti-biotics worked well after  a week of 6hour interval infusion.   After numerous ultrasound and x-ray  monitoring, I was declared  free from Pneumonia infection.  Thank God!

The view from my hospital room.
I am home since Monday night, June 3. Still on the rest mode. Lol!  I apologise for not replying to comments at once.  Didn’t have enough energy to keep my hands on my lappy.   Thank you everyone for the visit!  Will blog hop soon! See you all!

Reality Check for a Stubborn Heavy Beer Drinker

It's been a long while since I last updated this blog.  Now, I'm having a difficult time how and where to start. But before anything else, I want to thank those who dropped by and left comments while I was away.

Now, perhaps you're wondering what makes me  "MIA" for the past weeks. The reason was that DH was hospitalized and I had only little access to the internet.  Well, I went facebooking via my mobile phone but couldn't blog.  Anyway, I'm glad that DH is home now, doing quite well although still recuperating from liver infection.  It has been a very long hospital stay-cation for us since his experience of endless on and off fever and going to the wrong hospital first.   He was confined for 5 days and spent 30k (thanks to health insurance) before realizing that he isn't getting any better.  He had to transfer to another hospital, (NKTI) went thru various lab tests and diagnostic procedures until they found the culprit:  Abscess in his liver. He was bombarded with lots of oral and IV anti biotics for a week until he finally recovered.  Although not yet completely, as he has to continue his medication here at home.  He is sked for ultra sound tomorrow to see if the infection has totally disappeared.

Hoping and praying that his liver has fully recovered.  DH is a stubborn big beer drinker.  I hope he knows,  this is a reality check for him.

See you around again everyone! Have a lovely day!

Ooops, I did it again!

This is not about Britney Spears’ song! I am just acknowledging my mistake. I again overworked and push my physical power beyond its maximum capacity, therefore resulting to my trip to the hospital for the nth time. I wasn't feeling well last Thursday. I had an AH1N1 Flu-like symptoms that initially scared the doctors and nurses at the ER. . I was placed in the only remaining isolation room. No cable TV, no landline, no mobile phone signal and worst of all… NO INTERNET!!! After various laboratory tests, x-ray and ct-scan, the diagnosis was Bronchitis. I think I caught the bacterial infection when I got wet from the rain while tired and perspiring. Now, I'm still recuperating. Thinking over my previous birthday plans. I am warned of relapse.

Somehow, I learned my lesson. Quick moves are only for the young. And I am past that age. I’ll just take it slow next time. I'll try!

Sick Again

I was sick again. After a whole day trip to Batangas last Sunday, I woke up the following morning massaging my body particularly the side of my chest. I couldn’t figure out what kind of pain it was. I tried to ignore it but it became so severe where I could not afford to bend my body let alone pick things up from the floor. I couldn’t even breathe deeply or induce cough for it produces extreme pain. By 3:00 am yesterday, Hubby as usual drove me to the hospital. This time though to St. Luke’s Medical Center. At the ER, they gave me Tramadol, a strong pain killer but it didn’t get rid of the pain. I underwent various lab tests and the results were all normal. Until they concluded that it’s just severe muscle spasm. They gave me some tablets and assured me that it’s nothing serious and will be gone eventually. I’m glad that I need not have to be confined again, I took some rest and didn’t even open my lap top. So I got to do some blog hopping now, for it’s been a while since I’ve done so. See you on your site, buddies!
